Our Faith

Our Faith

February 2012

On Thursday 9th February we had a Mass for Year 3.
The theme of the Mass was forgiveness.

January 2012

To celebrate the ,'Feast of the Epiphany,' we had a whole school Mass on January 6th.

It was a wonderful way to celebrate as a whole school community.

Year 3 enjoyed hot seating activities in class to find out how the Kings felt when they saw Jesus.

Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church is undergoing re-furbishment and decoration so for safety reasons it cannot be used. In the meantime all Masses and Services are taking place as normal in St. George's Church which is just a five minute walk down the hill from Mount Carmel Church.

Mass Times
Sunday 11.30 a.m.
The Polish Mass is at 2.45 p.m.

Although the Feast of the Presentation/Candlemas is not officially celebrated until 2nd February, we had a Mass for Year 2 - 4 and a Service for Early Years and Year 1 on January 26th.

December 2011

During Advent each class has taken some time to reflect on the true meaning of Christmas. The children in Key Stage 2 have enjoyed the Advent edition of the ,'Wednesday Word,' and all the children have received,'The Walk with me Advent Calendars.'

Year 2 enjoyed making Advent Wreaths and Advent Promises in class.

Every class has enjoyed raising money for ,'CAFOD,' to help make a huge difference in developing countries.

Each class has chosen a World Gift:

Early Years - A pair of piglets and chickens,
Year 1- A goat, pair of piglets and chickens,
Year 2- A shrimp pond, school starter kit, a teach a child to read kit and a football experience,
Year 3- Make a child smile and a goat and
Year 4- Pair of piglets, emergency and a refuge kit.

November 2011

On Monday we had a visit from Shirley Butcher a representative from Operation Christmas Child.

Operation Christmas Child is the largest children's Christmas project in the world, run by the Christian charity Samaritan's Purse. They have been sending gift-filled shoeboxes to disadvantaged children around the world since 1990, bringing joy into the lives of over 80 million children.

Shoeboxes arriving in SwazilandFrom your hands into theirs...

Giving a shoebox gift is really quite simple. You wrap and pack it and send it into school before November 18th.

CAFOD Assemblies

On Friday 7th October, Jane lavery a local CAFOD representative inspired us to help children around the world achieve their dreams. We are going to help by giving something up next week and we will then donate the money we have saved to CAFOD.

Harvest Gifts

Thank you for joining us at the Mass for Key Stage Two and the Service for Key Stage One and Early Years with Father Craig and Deacon Des on Thursday 6th October. There was a wonderful display of harvest gifts donated by the children. The Year 4 children have proudly made up harvest bags and they then distributed the bags to the local elderly and the Salvation Army.

Richard Reynolds from the Salvation Army came into school and was delighted to receive the gifts from representatives of each year group.

Assembly with Father Eddie

On Friday 16th September Father Eddie spoke to the children in Key Stage 2 about his recent visit to Mtwara. He told us all about the schools he visited and we were lucky enough to watch a video of him presenting the prayer mat that was made by the children who are now in Year 4. The children in Year 4 were very excited to receive letters from the children and teachers in Mtwara and we look forward to learning lots about our new friends.

Key Stage Two House Groups

The children in Key Stage Two are all in a House Group. We have four House Groups and they are:
Galilee, Nazareth, Jerusalem and Emmaus.
All the House Groups were important places during the life of Jesus.
Can you find Galilee, Nazareth and Jerusalem on the map of the Holy Land?

Look at the pictures of the children receiving a badge to represent the House Group they are in.
