Dear parents/carers,

We were delighted to see our year 4 play leaders starting their new roles with such enthusiasm this week and ensuring that all of the children could be involved in an exciting playground game. The wide range of games have been researched and designed by the play leaders themselves and have definitely been a popular addition to lunchtimes!

We also met with our School Council on Wednesday to listen to their ideas about what they enjoy about school and what would make it even better. They came up with lots of great ideas including a ‘Friendship Award’ and improvements to the outdoor area which we will be working with them on over next half term. The suggestion of an indoor swimming pool might be a little out of the budget though!!

It was wonderful to see so many parents and family members at 1M’s maths family learning workshop on Tuesday and our Early Years’ curriculum evening on Thursday. We really do value your feedback on the events we provide, such as these, so that we can continue to tailor them to meet your needs throughout the year.

There was a wide array of ‘food’ themed learning activities taking place in classrooms through the week including fresh pumpkin soup tasting in Early Years and using a partner’s instructions to create a fruit kebab in year 2! Continuing the food theme, the children have also been busy preparing for our Harvest Mass and service taking place next week.  We would welcome donations of tins, packets and fresh fruit and vegetables which can be brought in on Monday 17th October. These will be distributed to elderly members of our local community. If any parents are able to stay for a few minutes after Mass to help put together the Harvest bags, we would be extremely grateful.

Year 4 were visited by Mrs Gallinagh, KS2 leader from St Bede’s, on Tuesday to find out more about all of the exciting opportunities that the school has to offer. St Bede’s are holding their Open Evening for prospective parents on Tuesday 18th October from 6pm-8pm.

We have a huge amount to look forward to in school next week including our celebration of Harvest, a ‘Breakfast of Champions’ for this half term’s winning KS2 House, our ‘Try Something New’ afternoon for KS2, a Yr2 maths family learning workshop and our INSET day on Friday.

Enjoy your weekends!
