What a busy week!

On Monday morning class 4B delivered a superb assembly launching this year’s ‘Operation Christmas Child’ Shoebox appeal by highlighting the joy that giving a gift to a child who may be suffering due to poverty, homelessness and war can bring. They described to us how, through acts such as sharing, we are passing God’s love around the world. All of the children will be bringing home a leaflet explaining how to go about creating a shoebox. These can then be brought into school and will be collected by the ‘Samaritan’s Purse’ charity mid-November.

Our theme of thanksgiving for all of the wonderful things that God has given us was celebrated through our Harvest Mass and Harvest service. We were incredibly proud of all of the children for their prayerful participation and joyous singing! Thank you again for all of your generous donations of packets, tins and fresh fruit and vegetables which were distributed to the local community by our yr 4 children on Wednesday afternoon. Well done for receiving lots of praise for your good manners year 4!

Well done to Jerusalem, our winning KS2 house, who earned an amazing 1078 praise points this half term! They celebrated in style with a ‘Breakfast of Champions’ on Monday morning – the aroma of freshly made toast, jam, croissants and orange juice emanating from the classroom was absolutely delicious! It is all to play for now for all of our houses in anticipation of next half term’s treat!

On Wednesday our KS2 children embarked on their ‘Try Something New’ morning which saw groups involved in activities including knitting, quilling, first aid, Zumba, cookery and survival skills! The children thoroughly enjoyed learning and trying out their new skills and are already excited about which activity they will get to try out next half term.

Our Year 2 children also had a great time taste testing foods from around the world as the final part of their ‘Farm to Fork’ topic this week and thinking carefully about how climate, landscape and culture affects they types of food grown in different parts of the world.

2LB children and their families enjoyed their maths family learning workshop on Thursday morning which highlighted lots of indoor and outdoor activities designed to explore maths knowledge and understanding in a fun and interactive way. We are sure that the children will enjoy trying them out during the holidays.

I think that all of the children are ready for a well-deserved rest over half term!
