In our assembly this week we highlighted International Day of Peace (21/09/16) by talking about the word peace and sharing lots of ideas about how we can promote peace around the school. I have certainly seen many examples of children helping and caring for one another inside and outside of the classroom throughout the week.
It was wonderful to see so many parents and family members at out Letter-Join sessions this week and family fit session this morning. We are always keen to promote opportunities for family learning and have a wide range of workshops and family-based activities planned for this year.
We were delighted to see the product of green-fingered gardening club’s hard work on Wednesday as they picked a range of produce from our mini- allotment including lettuce, tomatoes and chives. We also have courgettes and beetroot almost ready! Watch this space!
A HUGE THANK YOU to the PFA for all their continued hard work last year in fundraising throughout last year. Their commitment to the school and willingness to give generously of their time enabled so many events to take place including our Christmas Bazaar, cinema clubs, Summer fete and Year 4 Leavers’ Prom. The monies raised enabled a wide range of curriculum enhancing events and to take place including ZooLab, Science Dome, Jump Rope Skippers, Circus workshop to name just a few! A number of purchases including a light box for our Early Years’ children and additional musical instruments have also benefited the school enormously.
At our AGM this week, Mrs Kennedy (who stepped down as Chair after five years) also presented the school with a cheque for £7,500 pounds towards our library re-furbishment. With Mrs Rauer at the helm as new Chair, we are looking forward to planning lots of exciting events for the coming year. Please do come and join us at our next meeting on Tuesday 4th October at 7.00pm to get involved!
Enjoy your weekends
