Dear Parents/Carers,

We have really enjoyed preparing for the Feast Day of Our Lady of Lourdes, which took place on Thursday this week, and the children, both in school and at home, have created some beautiful prayers and flowers in offering. Please take a look at the special page on our website to see more of the children’s beautiful work!

In celebrating the special Feast Day, we reflected on the courage shown by Bernadette who was a young girl when the Blessed Virgin Mary visited her and asked her to dig in the mud at the foot of the grotto in Lourdes. As she did, a spring of water began to flow which continued to grow larger and larger. Many miracles happened when people began to use this water and many thousands of people still visit the place today to be healed by the water from this spring. We thought about how we can be helping hands to Mary – just like Bernadette.

As we approach the liturgical season of Lent, with Ash Wednesday taking place on Wednesday 17th February, we remind ourselves that it is a special time for focusing on journeying closer to God. We will be sharing a series of Lenten reflections with you to provide the opportunity for prayerful reflection as a family.

We also highlighted the importance of being safe online during Safer Internet day on Tuesday which is particularly important as we are all using technology so much at the moment. If you haven’t already had the opportunity, please do take the time to look at the E-Safety resources available on the ‘useful links’ section of remote learning provision. You can also follow the link below for parent tips on keeping your family safe online:

Term Dates 2021-22:

The agreed term dates are now available via the ‘Our School’ tab on the school website.

Contact Tracing over Half Term:

We have been advised by the DfE that schools will need to notify families of the need to self-isolate if any positive cases are reported to us during half term. If your child has attended school this week, please follow the guidance below if your child tests positive for covid-19:

  • If your child develops symptoms on Saturday/Sunday and has a positive test result, please contact school via the office email: olmc-office@olmc.lourdesmac.org.uk
  • If your child develops symptoms from Monday onwards, please follow contact tracing instructions provided by NHS Test and Trace

 MAC Merger Consultation:

In line with the wider Archdiocese Academy Strategy, Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Multi-Academy and Holy Family Catholic Multi-Academy have agreed to join to create a larger company. The consultation period will run from the week commencing 8 th February 2021 and will conclude at noon on Monday 22nd March 2021. Please follow the link below to complete the consultation:

We are delighted to announce the safe arrival of Jakson James Fellows – congratulations to Mrs Fellows and family!

A reminder that there will be no remote learning taking place for the week commencing 15th February as we are closed for half term. Remote learning will continue as normal for the week commencing Monday 22nd February.

On behalf of all the staff, we would like to wish you a safe and restful half term break! We have sent a text with a special message to all of the children from the staff – we hope you like it!

Take care and stay safe

Mrs Woods
