As we look forward to the official start of Spring on Saturday, there are lots of signs of new life emerging around school. Our daffodil patch by our newly renovated prayer garden is looking absolutely beautiful and our year 2 children have been very busy this week planting 30 new trees around the school site. We can’t wait to watch them grow over the coming months and years.
As we continue our Lenten journey, we spent time during this week’s Gospel assembly thinking about how it feels to do something kind for someone else. We were inspired by the story of Gandhi who, whilst boarding a train, lost one of his sandals which fell on to the track. He tried to pull it out but could not. When he was unable to pull the shoe from the track, he took off the other shoe as well and threw it on the track right at the spot where the first one was stuck. The astonished passengers asked, “Why are you throwing the other shoe onto the track?”
Gandhi replied, “The poor man who finds the shoe lying on the track will now have a pair he can use.”
We thought carefully about how we, like Gandhi, can focus on helping others this week.
Good Shepherd Appeal:
As we are unable to carry out our usual Lenten charity fundraising this year, we will be taking part in the Good Shepherd Appeal ‘Odd Shoes Day’ on Friday 26th March. Your child can come to school in odd shoes for the day and there will be an opportunity to make a voluntary donation to Father Hudson’s Care, a charity who support families and community projects within the Catholic Archdiocese of Birmingham, via ParentPay.
Lateral Flow Testing:
With the re-opening of schools, the Worcestershire Public Health Team are now providing the opportunity for all families to participate in lateral flow testing at home. Please follow the link below for more details:
We are very keen to re-launch hot meals at lunchtime for all year groups and have been working alongside Baileys Catering to put a plan in place for the start of the summer term. We are planning to re-introduce hot meals as follows:
Years 1 & 2: Monday 19th April
Years 3 & 4: Monday 26th April
Menu options will be available on DinnerPay shortly.
