Dear Parents/Carers,

The children in school have certainly made the most of the sunshine this week in their individual bubbles with lots of outdoor learning taking place including playground phonics sessions, rounders, wonderful nature inspired artwork, miniature raft building competitions and picnics in the shade!

We have a few updates for you:

Good Shepherd Mass:

As described last week, the Good Shepherd Mass will be live streamed on Monday 29th June at 10.00 am and is easy to access from the St Chad’s Cathedral website or via the following link: .

Leavers’ Farewell Celebration:

We will be holding a special yr 4 leavers’ picnic on Friday 17th July in order to celebrate and remember the children’s time with us at Our Lady of Mount Carmel as they prepare to embark on the next part of their exciting journey at middle school. Year 4 parents have been sent a link to a letter with further details.

Summer Reading Challenge:

We have received the following information regarding an exciting upcoming event in Worcestershire:

Calling all children aged 4-11 years –sign up to the ‘Silly Squad Summer Reading Challenge 2020!’ The annual Summer Reading Challenge for children aged 4-11 years is being delivered online this year and offers a perfect solution for a summer term project that supports reading and literacy and helps promote reading for pleasure. This year’s challenge launched nationally on Friday 5th June. The theme is Silly Squad with a focus on the enjoyment of reading for pleasure; children are encouraged to read anything that makes them happy and can register for the challenge here –

They can read books available at home, or those free to download and borrow from Worcestershire Libraries. Remember, library membership is free and Worcestershire residents of all ages can join instantly online with a digital membership –a wide range of junior fiction is available from the digital library including a dedicated ‘Silly Squad’ collection of books in ebook and eaudio format using the ‘Borrowbox’ app.

Due to the impact of Covid-19, Worcestershire Libraries are unable to host the SRC in their library buildings or run any face to face events and activities. However, many library services, events and activities are now available online -visit the Digital Library Hub to explore or access the SRC events and activities.

Free School Meals

We understand that personal circumstances may have changed for some of our families during the coronavirus pandemic. We have sent out the link to the form to complete if you think that you are eligible for Free School Meals. If you are in receipt of free school meals, this means that the school can get extra funding to support your child. Please follow this link to apply:
